Taxi driver robbed in Edinburgh
A taxi driver was assaulted and robbed of his takings in the early hours of Boxing Day.
The traumatic'' incident happened at about 2.40am in Harvesters Way, Wester Hailes, Edinburgh, where the victim was assaulted by a male passenger.
Police said the suspect stole a three-figure sum of takings and bankcards before making off towards Dumbeg Park.
Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.
The suspect is described as white, in his 20s, about 5ft 7ins with short brown messy hair, clean-shaven and of a medium build. He was wearing a grey collared t-shirt with a black leather belt with metallic buckle.
Detective constable Jenifer Bell, of Corstorphine police station, said: This was a traumatic attack for the taxi driver, who was simply doing his job.
Witnesses may have seen the taxi driver and male suspect running around the taxi before the suspect made off towards Dumbeg Park.''
