Alan Stubbs has signed an extended contract at Hibernian - hours after being installed as favourite in the Ladbrokes Championship sack race''.
Morning reports claimed Stubbs could have walked out of Easter Road if the club reneged on their vow not to sell midfielder Scott Allan to title rivals Rangers.
That saw the former Celtic defender made favourite to become the next Championship manager to lose his post, but Stubbs quashed the speculation over his future by extending his contract by one year until summer 2017.
The move was a show of unity between Stubbs and chief executive Leeann Dempster after they resolved to keep Allan at Easter Road until his contract expires next summer.
Stubbs, whose fellow coaches John Doolan and Andy Holden have also extended their contracts, told the club's official website: I am very happy to continue with the work in progress. I think supporters would agree that they have seen a lot of positive changes over the past year, and I know there is a lot more to come.
I think most supporters would agree that whatever disappointments they have suffered in recent seasons are behind us, we are on the right track now, we're trying to play a winning and exciting brand of football that they want to see and be part of."
