It's claimed the Queen shocked customers at Scotland's oldest pub by making a pit stop there after her day at Musselburgh Racecourse on Friday.

Her majesty had been on the tail end of a week of engagements in Scotland, when she reportedly visited The Sheep Heid Inn in Duddingston for a meal and drink.

Staff there were apparently given an hour's notice of her impending visit.

The Queen and her companions are said to have ordered between them lamb, a fillet of seabass, a martini and white wine.

Her majesty isn't the only famous visitor to the pub - which was established back in 1360.

Rabbie Burns and Bonnie Prince Charlie are among its former patrons.

Kelly Clarkson stopped by the Inn last year to enjoy a beer, a plate of chips and a cappuccino.
