Pedestrian Hurt As Car Crashes Into Edinburgh Cafe

A 20-year-old has been taken to hospital after a car smashed into the Empire Cafe on Marchmont Road.

A man has been arrested and another has been taken to hospital after a car struck a pedestrian and collided with a cafe in Edinburgh.

The incident happened on Marchmont Road at 3.45am, the vehicle careered into the Empire Cafe.

A 20-year-old has suffered a head injury, and is being treated at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

A spokesman for the Police said; “Police Scotland can confirm that a 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a road traffic collision on Marchmont Road.

“The incident occurred at around 3.45am this morning. A 20-year-old man was injured as a result of the collision and sustained a non-life threatening head injury. He is currently receiving treatment at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

“The 32-year-old will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
