East Lothian teenager killed in crash with school bus

A teenager from East Lothian has died after the van he was driving was involved in a collision with a school bus.

Kieran Swinton, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Emergency services were called to the collision, on the A803 Stirling Road in the Banton area of North Lanarkshire, at around 8am on Wednesday.

There was one child on the school coach who was left shaken by the incident but was unharmed, Police Scotland said.

The bus driver and a man who was a passenger in the van were both taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital and released after treatment.

Sergeant David Stenhouse, said: "The area would have been busy with rush-hour traffic around the time of the incident and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened to get in touch".
