The death of a man in Kircaldy this morning is being treated as suspicious by police.
The death of a man in Kircaldy this morning is being treated as suspicious by police.
He was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency services were called to a flat on Victoria Road at around 5am.
Another man was found to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Victoria Hospital for treatment.
Enquiries are currently ongoing to establish the identity of the man who died and to trace his next of kin.
Detectives would urge anyone who may have information which can help with the investigation to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Keith Hardie of Police Scotland's Major Investigation Team said: "We're confident that this man has died in suspicious circumstances and a thorough investigation is currently underway.
"As part of our enquiries we continue to ask anyone who has information which may be relevant to come forward.
"Specifically, anyone who may have seen suspicious behaviour in the Victoria Road area between 4am and 5am is urged to get in touch as soon as possible." Inspector Graeme Neill of Kirkcaldy Police Station said: "Local officers are supporting the Major Investigation Team and will be conducting enquiries in the community as part of this. "Although there is not believed to be any risk to the wider public, there will be an increase in high visibility patrols in the area over the forthcoming days. "I want to thank the local community for their support so far and urge anyone with information or concerns to call us or speak to an officer."
