Cars, vans and lorries rescued from heavy snow in East Lothian

Around 12 vehicles had to be rescued in East Lothian last night (Tue 16th Feb) after getting stuck in heavy snow.

Around 12 vehicles had to be rescued in East Lothian last night (Tue 16th Feb) after getting stuck in heavy snow.

Cars, vans and lorries ended up trapped for a number of hours on the B6355 near Gifford as conditions worsened.

The Border Search and Rescue Unit was called at around 7.15pm and dispatched a team of 8 to the scene.

With the help of a local farmer, the rescuers managed to free all the vehicles by around 11.55pm.
