As recruitment campaigns go this has to be one of the more unusual.

The 30-second clip called the Running Man Challenge is the New Zealand Police Force's latest in a year-long campaign to encourage more to join the police.

The video posted on Facebook, which has now racked up over five million views, shows a group of officers dancing to 'My Boo' by the Ghost Town DJs and askes other police forces to accept their challenge.

Taking centre stage is 43-year-old Sergeant Sonny Joseph Iosefo who has been in the force for 20 years, talking about his involvement he said he has a "lifelong passion for dance", often dancing at family events.

While a few of the police forces who have been tagged in the post have already accepted the challenge the Isles of Scilly police have politely declined with Sgt Colin 'Dad Dance' Taylor saying on Facebook,

"I (also) note that they can draw on a supporting cast of thousands of officers and staff whereas we have a modest team of five and occasionally a cat."

He continued,

"Ours is not to dance or body pop ever since the thespian PC Mat 'Flashdance' Collier left these shores several years ago. When we do so, we now do levity in the medium of cake."

However the Royal Falkland Islands Police responded to the post saying "we will see what we can muster...."

The New York Police Department have already accepted the challenge and even recorded their response by recruiting a group of kids from Brooklyn to help out.

And in Los Angeles the Police have tweeted a response, but have yet to share a video.

The challenge continues to gain ground around the world with Police Scotland being nominated by NYPD along with the New York Fire Department and Boston Police Department.
