Britain set to have its hottest day EVER tomorrow
We're in the midst of a heatwave
Last updated 24th Jul 2019
The Met Office has warned Britain is set to have its hottest day ever tomorrow (25th July), as they predict temperatures will reach 39 degrees celsius (102.2F).
This means, if predicted correctly, the temperature will beat the current record that stands at 38.5 degrees celsius (101.3F), which was logged in Faversham, Kent in August 2003.
Taking to Twitter, the Met Office posted a video of where temperatures will soar, with the caption, 'It's looking likely that we could reach 39°C somewhere in southern and eastern England on Thursday. The hottest temperature ever recorded in the UK is 38.5°C.
'There is currently a 60% chance we could break this on Thursday, depending on the amount of cloud'.
The Met Office also tweeted a video of the lightning strikes that happened last night (23rd July), after thousands took to Twitter to ask what was going on.
They captioned the video, 'Slept badly last night? There were thousands of lightning strikes recorded across the UK! Here's a replay #Thunderstorm. The blues, yellows and pinks on the map are rainfall, with the pink colours showing the heaviest rainfall'.
Fans have been quick to respond to the Met Office's tweet, with one Twitter user writing, 'Should think ourselves lucky we're only getting this for 1 week, France have had it for ages', whilst another added, 'Please get the forecast wrong I cannot take more heat'.
A third replied, 'Yes, finally some summer weather'.
After the sudden rise in temperatures, the weather account has set out advice for those worried about the extreme heat, advising the public to stay cool, hydrated and protected from the sun.
The hot weather is set to stay for the next few days!
