The family of a six-year-old who lost her life in a road traffic collision in Stoke-on-Trent have paid tribute to their ‘always smiling, beautiful’ girl.

Sharlotte Naglis and her father were struck by a car whilst walking on Endon Road, Norton, at 7.15pm last night (June 19) near to the junction with Trentside Road.

Sharlotte’s family have requested their privacy is respected. They have released a short statement:

"Sharlotte was so beautiful, full of life, always smiling, sassy, so brave and happy. Sharlotte just started her gymnastics classes which she loved and was shining so bright in. She was loved by everyone that met her, so caring and loving.

"Every night since she was born she would never sleep without holding her mum’s hand. There will never be another child like her for anyone who met her. She was taken so early from us and will never be forgotten."

Investigators are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw a blue Skoda Rapid in the area yesterday evening.

Her father received treatment at the scene for injuries. The 44-year-old driver of the car is being treated in hospital for injuries sustained in the collision.

Sergeant Rich Moors, of the Staffordshire and West Midlands Serious Collision Investigations Unit, urged witnesses to come forward.

"We’re continuing to investigate and understand fully what happened last night. We’d urge anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage, or who witnessed the collision, or saw a blue Skoda in the area to get in touch with us.

"Again, we’d kindly urge people not to speculate as to the circumstances.

"Sharlotte’s family are being supported by specially trained officers. Our thoughts are with them all at this time."

Anyone with information should contact Staffordshire Police on 101 or via social media or ciu@staffordshire.pnn.police.uk referring to incident 716 of June 19.
