Police investigate 'incredibly reckless' shooting in Wirral
Merseyside Police are trying to find those responsible
An investigation is underway following a shooting on the Wirral.
Officers were called to New Chester Road in Rock Ferry at 10:30pm on Tuesday 26 March, following reports of shots being fired at 10:05pm.
No injuries were caused and no damage has so far been found, Merseyside Police said.
Officers are to remain in the area as they continue CCTV, house-to-house and witness enquiries, the force added.
A road closure is still in place on New Chester Road from Thorburn Close to Dell Grove.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Atkinson from our Firearms Investigation Team said: "Our initial enquiries suggest that this was a targeted incident, and we're looking to establish the full circumstances and find those responsible. If you live in the area or were passing by and saw, heard or captured anything, including anyone running away from the scene, please come forward.
"Although nobody was injured, to fire a gun in a residential street is incredibly reckless and can have devastating consequences. Officers will remain in the area carrying out enquiries today, and I want to assure those people who live and work nearby that we will be relentless in removing those responsible and their weapon from the streets. Tell us what you know, and we will do the rest."
