A "beloved" parrot has been rescued after flying from the New Forest to the Isle of Wight.

Miguel disappeared from his home at the Beaulieu River marina last week.

He was found 15 miles away in a car park in Sandown.

His relieved owners say his escape was an "impromptu holiday".

In a post on Facebook, they said: "Miguel, a favourite amongst our visitors and staff went missing last week from the marina.

"Following an impromptu holiday to the Isle of Wight, we are delighted to announce that he is back home, safe and sound!

Miguel back home

"Thanks to all those who spotted him at Yaverland car park in Sandown and reported his whereabouts.

"A special thank you also goes to the incredible team at the The Wildheart Trust for providing a safe haven for Miguel during his island escapade."
