A man has been arrested by police investigating the death of a 51 year old woman, who was found dead at an address in Blackpool.
Emergency crews were called to an address on Redcar Road at around 11am on Thursday, where Alison Dodds was found deceased.
Following a post mortem, Lancashire Police launched a murder investigation, after it was determined that she had died from serious injuries.
A 35 year old from the Blackpool area was arrested yesterday. He is currently in custody.
In a statement, DCI Jane Webb from the Major Incident Team said: "“The victim in this case has suffered some horrific injuries and we have a dedicated team of officers working tirelessly to establish the circumstances surrounding her death. However, my thoughts do remain with Alison’s friends and loved ones at this extremely difficult time.
“This is a fast-moving investigation and although we have now made an arrest, we are still appealing for anyone with information which could assist our investigation to get in contact with us. We appreciated the support already given to us by many of the people in the community surrounding the address."
Lancashire Police say patrols have been stepped up in the area. They also want anyone who saw anything suspicious to contact them on 101, quoting log 400 of September 21, 2023.
