Metropolitan Police officers have charged a man with attempted murder after a nine-year-old girl was seriously injured in a shooting.

Javon Reily, aged 32 and from Farnborough, was arrested on Friday (August 9th) in connection with the incident that took place on May 29th in the central London suburb of Dalston.

The incident took place at 9:20pm on Kingsland High Street, and left a girl with serious injuries requiring to be hospitalised following the incident.

Following the attack, the girl currently remains in hospital months after the incident. Doctors have described her as being in a stable condition.

Reily was arrested after a vehicle stop at the Chelsea Embankment, before being detained by officers.

A 35-year-old woman who was also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and assisting an offender has since been released on bail.

Officers have now charged Reily with four counts of attempted murder and remanded him in police custody.

He appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Saturday (August 10th) to face his charges, and his case adjourned to the Old Bailey, where he will appear on Friday, September 6th.

Three other men were also injured in the attack, but their injuries were not considered "life-threatening" and have since been released from hospital.

Leading the investigation into the attack, Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke from the Metropolitan Police said the investigation remains underway.

"This is very much still an ongoing investigation and we urge those who have information to come forward," she said.

"We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has information about the identity of an individual seen on a motorcycle in Kingsland High Street at the time of this offence.

"Any information, no matter how insignificant you feel it may be, could be vital."
