Cristiano Ronaldo's baby son dies

He's released a statement on Instagram

The baby son of Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo has died.

The footballer and partner, Georgina Rodriquez have issued a statement online - saying his death is the "greatest pain that any parents can feel."

The 37-year-old goes onto say its only the birth of his baby daughter "that gives us the strength to live this moment."

He's posted his full statement on his Instagram:

Ronaldo and Rodriguez announced last October that they were expecting twins.

Taking to Instagram last year to the news that Rodriguez was expecting, the Portuguese football star wrote: “Delighted to announce we are expecting twins. Our hearts are full of love - we can’t wait to meet you.”

Ronaldo already has a four-year-old daughter with Ms Rodriguez, and became a father for the first time in 2010 with the birth of Cristiano Jr.
