Council bosses in Glasgow approve plans for Scotland's first safe drugs consumption room
Drug users will be able to inject substances in a clean setting around trained professionals.
Council bosses and health staff in Glasgow have given the green light to open Scotland's first safe drugs consumption room.
Located in the East End of the city, the pilot scheme would allow service users to inject surrounded by trained professionals and keep them off the streets.
The idea is to offer a compassionate service which will encourage people with addiction issues to build trusting relationships with staff members.
It's hoped that would then help them to look for treatment to come off drugs in the long term.
