West Yorkshire Police are appealing for information on two separate incidents that took place on the same road in Leeds.
On Friday evening (August 9th), officers first received reports of a 3-year-old boy suffering serious injuries after being involved in a serious collision.
The incident took place at the entrance to the Asda supermarket on Old Lane in Beeston alongside the junction with Oakhurst Mount.
Following the incident, initial lines of enquiry found the collision took place at 6:25pm, with the driver initially stopping at the scene, before taking off.
The boy was taken from the scene and transported to hospital with serious leg injuries, where doctors have described his condition as being serious but not life-threatening.
Police found that the car involved in the incident was a silver Seat Ibiza, and officers are appealing for the driver to come forward to help in their investigation.
Just twelve hours later however, a second incident took place on Old Lane, when a grey Vauxhall Crossland car struck a wall on the road after travelling on Dewsbury Road.
The driver of the car, believed to be a 73-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigating the crash, it was announced that no other cars were involved in the low-speed collision.
West Yorkshire Police are now appealing for information on both cases and urged anyone with any relevant information or footage of the road to come forward.
To help with the investigation into the fatal crash, anyone who may have witnessed the single-vehicle crash can get in touch by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number 0362 from August 10th.
Similarly, if anyone has relevant information regarding the toddler being hospitalised can speak to officers by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number 1514 from August 9th.
