Police in Tyneside have opened an investigation after burglars reportedly stole a car from Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak.
Officers said they first received a report of a burglary from a house in Darras Hall, Northumberland just after 10 p.m. on Thursday (April 4th).
It is believed that the Swedish footballer had been targeted just 48 hours before he played in the Magpies' victory against Fulham on Saturday (April 6th).
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police, who are dealing with the incident, said that the theft had taken place earlier in the day.
"It was reported that offenders gained entry to the property and took a vehicle from the address," they said.
"The vehicle was later found abandoned in the Dissington area, and the occupants had fled the scene."
It has not been confirmed by investigating officers whether Isak and his family were at home at the time when the robbery took place.
Investigators from the force have said that enquiries into the burglary are "ongoing", with the force bringing updates as and when they see fit.
This is not the first time that footballers have fallen victim to burglary, as Manchester City star Jack Grealish revealed that his Cheshire home had been targeted.
Taking to his Instagram profile last December, the footballer said that jewellery and watches had been taken during his team's clash against Everton.
He added: "This has been a traumatic experience for all of us, I am just so grateful that nobody was hurt."
