Women's World Cup: late heartbreak for Northern Ireland as Austria snatch point at Seaview
Northern Ireland were denied a famous victory at Seaview last night (Tuesday) after Austria - one of the best teams in Europe - struck a stoppage-time equaliser.
Stefanie Enzinger's goal left the score at 2-2.
It was another superb all-round performance by Kenny Shiels' side - just three days after their 4-0 defeat to England.
After going down to a late first half strike, Northern Ireland picked themselves up in the second period with two goals in five minutes.
Lauren Wade bagged the first followed by a screamer from Demi Vance.
Then with just a couple of minutes of stoppage time left, Austria levelled it.
The draw means Northern Ireland hold onto third place in Group D behind Austria and England.
