'To play at this famous club is amazing' - McAuley on Rangers move
Northern Ireland defender seals deal at Ibrox
Gareth McAuley has finally sealed a move to Rangers.
The Northern Ireland defender put pen to paper yesterday on a year-long deal.
The 38-year-old told Rangers TV that signing for the club he supported as a boy was a real privilege.
And he promised to play his part in helping Steven Gerrard bring the glory days back to Ibrox.
“It’s massive for me, personally – and there’s a big family support for the club,” he said.
“To get the opportunity to come and play at this famous club is amazing.
“I feel very honoured and privileged to play.”
McAuley who had been a free agent after being released by West Brom in the summer, has been included in Michael O’Neill’s squads to face Bosnia on Saturday and then Israel.
He links up at Rangers with fellow international Kyle Lafferty, transferred from Hearts several weeks ago.
