NIFL say health and safety of players and fans comes first
All three Danske Bank Premiership games were abandoned last night because of Storm Eleanor.
NIFL tweeted to say the matches were stopped “on the grounds of the health and safety and well-being of players and supporters.”
All three venues were battered by gale-force winds and driving rain.
The fixture between Ards and Glenavon at the Bangor Fuels Arena did manage to kick off the second half before the referee called it off.
At that stage the Lurgan Blues were 2-0 up thanks to a double Joel Cooper strike.
Elsewhere, the games at Solitude where Cliftonville and Ballymena were drawing 1-1 and at the Oval where it was all-square between Glentoran and Warrenpoint.
Glens boss Gary Haveron believes the game should have never started in the first place.
A date for the rescheduled games has yet to be arranged
