Alfie Wylie believes the future is bright for his young women’s side.

As Northern Ireland prepare to take on Scotland in the second game of the U19 Euro championships, Wylie has been singing the praises of a side bursting with talent.

He said their performance in the opener when they lost 2-0 to Spain – one of the tournament favourites – indicated there was much more to come from the teenagers.

Wylie told Downtown & Cool FM: “We have a 15 year old (striker Emily Wilson) and we have two or three other girls who are 16.

“We would like to think, in maybe a few years time, with performances like that, they would have very good careers in England or elsewhere and we will build on this.”

Tonight’s game kicks off at 7 at Mourneview Park, Lurgan.

Meanwhile, Italy take on France (3pm) at Windsor Park while Germany play Spain (3pm) at Shamrock Park, Portadown and Netherlands take on England (7pm) at Windsor
