A brace from Jordan Owens saw Crusaders beat Linfield 2-0 at Seaview in the Danske Bank Premiership.

It's a reuslt that keeps Stephen Baxter's side top of the league on goal difference, as Coleraine beat Ballymena 1-0.

Crusaders started brightly and deservedly took the lead in the 15th minute.

Owens lashed home his first at the back post having collected a Billy Joe Burns cross, after the fullback was sent into space down the right by Michael Carvill.

In the opening half, Linfield often found themselves on the back foot, but still managed to test Brian Jensen on occasion.

First they tried from distance through Kurtis Byrne, and then the Danish keeper spilled the ball after being challenged by Mark Stafford.

The Blues' best chance fell to Andy Waterworth, who couldn't find a way past Jensen from close range with the final action of the first half.

Crusaders looked like they might need a second goal, and it took a superb diving save from Roy Carroll in the 65th minute to deny Owens with a header and keep Linfield in the game.

However, the decisive strike finally came in the 87th minute, with Owens thumping home a back post header after a driven cross from Billy Joe Burns.

Linfield's Andrew Mitchell was then sent off for a poor challenge on Jamie Glackin in the 89th minute.
