Kyle Lafferty has returned to Scotland, joining Kilmarnock on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

The 33-year-old links up with manager Tommy Wright, becoming his first signing at Rugby Park.

Lafferty had been playing in Italy's Serie B earlier this season, but he left by mutual consent in January.

It's possible his first game for Killie will be against former club Rangers, as the 2 sides will meet on Saturday the 13th at 3pm, meaning the big striker is in line for his debut if the paperwork has been lodged in time.

The Fermanagh native previously had spells in Scotland with Rangers and Hearts, but came close to joining Romanian side Sepsi this week, before the deal collapsed.

Lafferty is no stranger to playing abroad, having also lined out for teams in Switzerland, Turkey and Norway.

He's been trying to make a return to active club football in a bid to boost his chances of once again becoming the focal point for Northern Ireland's attack.

The World Cup Qualifiers begin in March, but Lafferty hasn't scored for his country since November 2016.
