The 25-year-old won his professional debut in style in the much anticipated Saint Patrick's day bout.

It was an impressive pro unveiling that saw him bounce from his Olympic disappointment in Rio last year where he failed to win a medal.

Conlan's last olympic medal was a bronze at the 2012 Olympics.

In 2015, he held the world amateur boxing champion title.

UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor walked the super-bantamweight into the ring in front of a sold out crowd at The Theater at the New York venue.

Over 5000 Irish fans travelled to New York to watch the showdown.

Speaking to Downtown Cool FM before the fight this week, Conlan said he was in a good position for a win.

"You know I'm really looking forward to it, everything's going well, the weight's good, training's went perfect, so I'm just looking forward to getting fighting now." He told our reporter Paulo Ross out in New York.

Speaking about his opponent Tim Ibarra, Conlan was putting on a confident front.

"It doesn't matter if he had a one-all lead or if it was someone else it doesn't matter to me, I believe I have the ability to beat anybody in the world so it's another day at the office." He claimed.

The Belfast man said it was a dream debut.

“I don’t think I’ll ever forget this any day of my life.

“This is real, real special for me. It was special.

"Who gets the biggest star in their country and one of the biggest stars in the world to carry the flag with him?

"We are a small country and we stick together.

“I am proud to be Irish today.” He said
