Kenny Shiels: NI women's football director says manager's future was never in question
The director of women's football at the Irish FA has said the Northern Ireland national team is "fully behind" Kenny Shiels.
The Northern Ireland women's team boss was forced to apologise after claiming "women are more emotional than men" following his side's 5-0 defeat to England this week.
But Angela Platt insisted the matter had been dealt with - adding his future was never in question.
She said: "He has clearly been open and honest with us in terms of the intent of those comments - he meant no offence with those and we have accepted that apology.
"And we will look forward in trying to support our players and our squad to prepare for the Euros come July."
It follows a statement issued earlier this week by Northern Ireland captain Marissa Callaghan on behalf of the squad which said the players supported heir manager and stood by him collectively.
