Premiership champions Linfield have announced the permanent signing of Joel Cooper on a three-year deal.

The winger comes back to Windsor Park after a spell with Oxford United after leaving the Blues in 2020. Cooper returned for a loan spell with David Healy's side - scoring in the Irish Cup Final win over Larne in 2021.

Speaking to linfieldfc.com, Blues boss Healy said he was delighted to see the tricky forward return.

"He knows this club well, so he will settle in easily. He fits into our way of playing and I'm really pleased to have got this business concluded now, to assist with our pre-season preparations in advance of an eagerly anticipated European and domestic campaign.

"It's great that Joel has shown faith in the club and the squad, by committing himself to this three-year contract and I want to assure all our supporters that we are continuing to make plans to try and bring in further players, to strengthen the squad for what is sure to be an even tougher league season next year,"

The NIFL Premiership champions are expected to add another former player, Chris McKee, in the near future.

The striker enjoyed a fruitful spell at Linfield in the second half of last season, scoring six goals on loan from Rangers. He's now left the Ibrox club and is widely believed to be next in the door as Healy strengthens his squad.
