Hughes all set for cap No. 105
Northern Ireland's veteran defender has no plans to retire
One of Northern Ireland’s longest-serving players is preparing for an international career milestone tomorrow night.
Aaron Hughes is set to start for his country in defence for the 105th time.
The 37-year-old from Cookstown is expected to play in a friendly against New Zealand at Windsor Park.
And he could also begin in the crucial World Cup qualifier with Azerbaijan eight days later.
Speaking to Downtown & Cool FM, Hughes who is now with Hearts, says he has no plans to retire.
“I have got to be consistent with my club and stay injury free – and make sure my levels of performance and still compete,” he said.
“I would love to be around next season and after that I guess I’ll make decisions after that.”
