GAA: Ulster Senior Football Championship quarter finals get under way

The first two quarter finals of this year's Ulster Senior Football Championship take place this weekend.

First up, on Saturday the 3rd July, it's Fermanagh vs Monaghan in Clones, before Sunday's meeting between Armagh and Antrim.

Monaghan vs Fermanagh

Neither county enjoyed a particularly successful National Football League season; Monaghan finished last in Division One North, failing to win a game and surviving only by beating Galway in a relegation playoff. Fermanagh, on the other hand, ended up in 2nd place in Division 3 North before losing a semi-final to Offaly.

There's always plenty of heart and fight about the Ernemen, but this is perhaps just too much of a challenge for them to overcome a stronger Monaghan.

Armagh vs Antrim

The Orchardmen will be heavily favoured to progress to the semis.

They go into this one having beaten Roscommon to retain their Division One status in the Football League North, and will be keen to keep up the momentum. Although they are dealing with several injuries, there's talk of a serious push for their first provincial title since 2008.

Antrim are huge underdogs, but will have nothing to lose after a strong League performance that saw them secure promotion from Division Four.
