Carl Frampton will get a shot at the IBF world featherweight title when he faces Josh Warrington in a blockbuster Christmas fight at Manchester Arena on December 22.

The much anticipated bout will be Leeds-born Warrington's first defence of his crown, former two-weight champion Frampton earned the right to another world title fight after winning his dream summer bout at Windsor Park by stopping Australian Luke Jackson in nine rounds.

Josh Warrington beat Lee Selby via split decision at Elland Road to claim the title in May.

Both fighters have fought 27 professional fights, Warrington winning them all (six by KO) while Frampton has won 26 (15 by KO).

What have both fighters been saying?

Frampton said: "Me and Warrington have big fan bases that make a lot of noise, so I think first and foremost the atmosphere is going to be fantastic and possibly a bit hostile as well."

"You're going to see two hungry guys in their prime, Warrington has just won this world title and isn't going to give it up easily."

"I know what it's like to be a world champion and I want that feeling back again, I think there is going to be fireworks in this fight."

Warrington is confident he can beat the Jackal.

“The Frampton fight really appeals to me and it will be another big test for me. There were easier routes I could have taken. Beating Frampton and Selby in the same year would be a massive achievement."

"It’s about keeping the momentum going and I just believe I can beat Carl. These are fights that the British public want to see, I’m a world champion and when you are world champion you want to fight the best and Carl is a name who is up there.”
