Down lost out 2-13 to 0-14 on Saturday afternoon in the Tailteann Cup Final to Meath.

After a touch-and-go first half, Colm O'Rourke's side found another gear in the second half to move clear of the Mournemen.

Meath lead 1-03 to 0-06 at the interval - Ronan Jones found the back of the net in the first half.

The win was sealed late on as Jack O'Connor also found the back of Niall Kane's net.

Defeat for Conor Laverty's side means their search for a first major trophy since their All-Ireland crown in 1994 over Dublin continues.
