Daryl Gurney cruised into the quarter-finals of the World Matchplay last night with victory over Gary Anderson in Blackpool.

The Derry thrower sept the former World Champion aside 11-4 at the Winter Gardens, averaging over 104 throughout in a sensational performance. Gurney also hit 11 of his 16 doubles to secure a momentous victory.

Enniskillen's Brendan Dolan hopes to join his country man in the last eight later this evening, when he takes on Damon Heta in the last 16.

Dolan has already knocked out reigning World Champion Michael Van Gerwen earlier in the competition.

Elsewhere in the tournament, former World Champions Michael Smith and Gerwyn Price were knocked out last night, meaning four out of the world's current top five have now exited.
