CRICKET: Ireland book T20 World Cup place with victory over Oman

Ireland will play in the T20 World Cup tournament later this year after winning their semi-final qualifier earlier.
They beat hosts Oman by 56 runs, having put up a score of 165 for 7 in their innings. Hosts Oman could only get to 109 all out in reply, with nine balls remaining from their 20 overs.
Gareth Delany was the top scorer for the men in green, hitting 47 with the bat top-scoring with 47. Andy McBrine cracked 36 from just 21 balls
Spinner Simi Singh took three wickets for just 20 runs as Ireland got through with plenty to spare in the end. Josh Little and Craig Young also took two wickets apiece as Oman struggled to get their run-rate up to Ireland's levels
Ireland will play in the tournament for the seventh time in succession and, having already assured qualification, they will meet the United Arab Emirates in the qualifier final on Thursday. .
It will be a chance for some sort of revenge for the side, who lost to UAE last week in the opening qualifying game, before getting the better of Bahrain and Germany to reach the semi-finals.
The main tournament will begin in Australia on October 16th, with the remaining two sports up for grabs to be decided in the final qualifying even in Zimbabwe in July.
