Coetzee faces second knee op
Huge blow for Ulster as South African is sidelined
Ulster fear Marcell Coetzee’s season could be over.
The back row has to have an op on his knee – for the second time in 12 months.
He picked up the injury in Saturday’s PRO12 win over Zebre.
It is believed the 25-year old South African star has hurt the same knee he initially injured.
He will have exploratory surgery this week to ascertain the extent of the damage.
Coetzee only returned to action – making his debut for Ulster against Edinburgh last month – after a long injury lay-off.
In another injury update, Andrew Trimble has undergone surgery for a left hand fracture sustained in the home win over Treviso.
He should be back in action again in around four weeks.
Meanwhile, Tommy Bowe’s season is over after he was carried off shortly after coming on for Ireland with a suspected broken leg.
He had surgery yesterday.
