Cliftonville had to come from behind to get past Newry City 3-1 in a game that saw the home side score all their goals in a 7-minute blitz.

The visitors took a shock lead at Solitude in just the 4th minute when Dara Noonan found himself in the right place to collect Stephen Hughes' blocked shot and finish into the bottom corner.

It took until the 27th minute for Cliftonville to reply through Rory Donnelly, who exchanged passes with Chris Curran before rounding goalkeeper Andrew Coleman and firing his side back into the game.

The equaliser kicked the Reds into life, and just 4 minutes later they went ahead for the first time; Joe Gormley was somehow left free at the back post to turn home Jay Donnelly's low cross.

That lead was extended in the 34th minute as Ryan Curran was on hand to finish from 6 yards after Newry failed to clear Ives' corner from the right.

In the 2nd half, Rory Donnelly forced a good save from Coleman with a curling effort just after the hour, and Newry's Dale Montgomery saw his driven volley tipped over the bar by Richard Brush, but the game fizzled out as a contest.
