Baxter's men in Crues control as gap widens at top
Threesy does it as another league title is on cards
Crusaders are on course to retain their Danske Bank Irish Premiership title after a 3-0 win over Carrick.
Stephen Baxter’s men never really looked in trouble at Seaview and they remain unbeaten during 2017.
Goals from Philip Lowry, Jordan Owens and Billy Joe Burns sealed the win.
Crusaders are now 10 points clear although a win for Linfield later over Cliftonville will reduce the gap at the top to seven.
Baxter told Downtown & Cool FM he was impressed with his side’s display.
“I asked the players to do something different – to pass it really well and crisply in good areas,” he said.
“Had it not been for their keeper we would have been coming in at 6-0 at half time.”
Baxter said the real challenge now was to keep the momentum going for the rest of the season.
“There are six or seven weeks to go so you are at the critical time of the season to get your head down and work hard and charge at it and that’s simply what we have to do,” he said.
Elsewhere, Portadown slumped closer to Championship football next season losing 3-0 to Ballymena.
Coleraine kept up their good form with a 2-0 home win over Glentoran while Glenavon secured sixth spot with a 2-0 victory over Dungannon Swifts.
