One of the Danske Bank Premiership’s best young talents, Joel Cooper, has been opening up about life at Linfield.

The 22-year-old who moved from Glenavon in the summer, said he was loving every minute at Windsor Park.

And in an interview with Downtown and Cool FM, Cooper believes his game is improving every day with the Blues.

“My movement in behind is getting better – under David (Healy),” he said.

“David said he wanted me to attack, to enjoy myself and make things happen.

“He wanted me to come in and try and excite the place and be direct and go towards the net when I get the ball.

“I love to hear that as a player you want to go forward all the time.”

Cooper was the star of Saturday’s win over new boys, Institute, which took them to the top of the table.

They are out in front with Coleraine who also have maximum points from their opening two games.

Aaron Burns, who has been their star performer to date, said the Bannsiders now have a very strong collective mindset.

He said: “It is a credit to Oran to the staff and the players they are bringing in.

“The mentality has completely flipped now – teams are setting their stall out against us to get a draw and maybe two or three years ago maybe that was Coleraine setting out their stall for a draw.”
