Alvaro Bautista clinched an exciting late victory ahead of Toprak Razgatlioglu in a thrilling World Superbike race one on Saturday at Estoril, as Northern Ireland's Jonathan Rea ended the race third.

Bautista, on the Ducati, was third for much of the race as Razgatlioglu and Rea battled for the lead.

However after leaving Rea behind, Bautista zoomed in front of the Yamaha in the chase to the chequered flag to win by 0.1 seconds.

Bautista now leads Kawasaki rider Rea, who finished a distant third, by 27 points.

Razgatlioglu got a great start ahead of pole-sitter Rea away from the start and, behind, Bautista had to be careful to guard against taking out team-mate Michael Ruben Rinaldi.

After contact ended both their races at Assen's event earlier in May, Ballyclare's Rea touched the rear tyre of Razgatlioglu's Yamaha on the third lap but both riders miraculously kept upright.
