Yellow weather warning in place all day tomorrow across NI

Overnight Wednesday into Thursday, strong west to northwesterly winds are likely to develop across Northern Ireland.

Winds are expected to gust 45-55 mph, possibly reaching 65-70 mph, over and to the east of high ground.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds, it's scheduled to be in place from midnight to 9pm on Thursday 21st December.

What to expect tomorrow:

⭕️ Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport expected

⭕️ Some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer

⭕️ Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges

⭕️ Some short term loss of power and other services

⭕️ Coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves

Today: A cloudy day with occasional rain, this mainly across the north and west. A little brightness possible across the southeast. Fresh occasionally strong westerly winds. Mild. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Tonight: A cloudy night with patchy rain, mainly in the north and west. Clearer weather developing in the north later. Windy with fresh to strong westerly winds, north coast gales later. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Thursday: A much brighter but windy day with a few showers, some drier spells of weather too. Strong west to northwesterly winds, gales along the north coast. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday: A few showers at first on Friday, otherwise dry and cloudy on Friday. Cloudy on Saturday with rain later in the day and overnight. Brighter with a few showers Sunday.
