Heavy rain and '50-60 mph' strong winds expected to batter Northern Ireland later today
A bleak end to the week weather-wise ☔💧💦
Last updated 9th Nov 2018
It's been a pretty miserable week and the wet and windy conditions look set to continue.
Northern Ireland will be lashed by non-stop rain and gale-force winds on Friday as the next deep area of low pressure approaches from the Atlantic.
The Met Office has issued a yellow severe weather warning which comes into effect from 13:00 lasting through until 23:59 Friday.
Forecasters warn this could lead to localised flooding and delays are expected across the country for the evening commute.
"A band of heavy rain is expected to move east with 15-25 mm of rain falling widely and perhaps 50 mm over higher ground. This will be in addition to other spells of heavy rain earlier in the week. Rain will be accompanied by 50-60 mph gusts."
Motorists are being urged to take care when driving and expect potential delays to bus and rail services.
Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
A stubborn ramped up jet stream sitting above the UK and Ireland is to blame for the recent spell of unsettled weather.
Despite the forecast rain temperatures will remain above normal for this time of year.
After today's wind and rain the weekend is set to be showery with some sunny spells.
Unfortunately there is no sign of things quieting down anytime soon.
