The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning today, with heavy showers and thunderstorms on the way that may cause some disruption and flooding.

A few places could see 30 to 35 mm of rain in two or three hours, perhaps most likely over northern and eastern parts of Northern Ireland.

The yellow weather warning is in place from 12pm to 9pm today - not great news for those running today's Mash Direct Belfast City Marathon 💔

What to expect:

-Some flooding of a few homes and businesses likely, leading to some damage to buildings or structures

-There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus

-Delays to train services are possible

-Some short term loss of power and other services is possible

Northern Ireland's five-day forecast:

Today: Overnight mist soon clearing. Then sunny intervals and scattered showers, these turning heavy by the afternoon with hail and thunder. Feeling warm in any afternoon sunshine. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight: Scattered heavy showers this evening, dying out later. Then the rest of the night will be mostly cloudy and mainly dry with just the odd light shower. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Monday: Mainly dry with variable amounts of cloud and some sunny intervals. Chance of a light shower in the north at first. Cooler than of late. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday: A mostly dry and settled few days with some sunshine at times. Feeling reasonably warm in any afternoon sunshine.
