The Met Office have issued another yellow weather warning that comes into affect from noon today (Monday 9th August) until 9pm.
Heavy showers and thunderstorms may cause flooding and travel disruption in a few places, Co Down and Armagh in particular.
It's reported that 10-20 mm rain may fall in a short space of time, with up to 30-50 mm expected where successive showers occur.
How to drive in storms, rain and strong wind
Even moderate rain can reduce your ability to see and be seen. A good rule of thumb is ‘if it’s time for your wipers, it’s time to slow down’.
- If heavy downpours are expected, avoid starting your journey until it clears.
- If you can, choose main roads, where you are less likely to be exposed to fallen branches and debris and flooding.
- Gusts of wind can unsettle vehicles – grip your steering wheel firmly with both hands.
- Roads will be more slippery than usual in wet weather – be sure to give yourself more time to react when approaching a hazard.
- If the road is flooded, turn around and find another route. Never drive through flood water. Turn around.
- Although the water may seem shallow, just 12 inches (30cm) of moving water can float your car, potentially taking it to deeper water from which you may need rescuing.

Today: The showers heavy at times, especially across Counties Armagh and Down. Maximum temperature 20 °C
Tonight: Last of the showers dying out early tonight then dry with clear periods. It will be another mild night with light winds. Minimum temperature 12 °C****
Tuesday: All parts will have a dry day and although it will be rather cloudy at times, there will also be a little sunshine. Light winds. Maximum temperature 21 °C
Outlook for Wednesday to Friday: Band of rain will cross parts during Wednesday then a dry, bright start to Thursday. Rather cloudy, showery, windy conditions will move in from Atlantic later Thursday and on Friday.
