Northern Ireland is set to enjoy some spring sunshine at last, with a dry and warm May Day bank holiday weekend on the cards.

Temperatures could reach the high teens, according to the Met Office.

"It will be mainly fine and dry, with a good deal of sunshine and feeling warm for many. However, there may be some coastal mist and fog at times."

The improvement begins on Saturday with temperatures rising through Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.

The start of the new week will be dry and warm in many areas with sunny spells.

Temperatures will range from 16 to 20 degrees with the best of any sunshine across southeastern counties. Feeling cooler along the coasts.
