Remnants of Hurricane Lorenzo set to hit Northern Ireland this week

Weather forecasters are keeping a close eye on the remnants of Hurricane Lorenzo, which could reach our shores by the end of the week.
Heavy rain and gale force winds are expected to hit from Thursday onward, bringing the risk of flooding and travel disruption.
The deep area of low pressure, which is approaching the Azores, has broken the record for strongest storm this far north and east in the Atlantic.
Don't panic, Lorenzo is forecast to weaken to a tropical storm as it tracks towards us.
Its exact track is not certain, but it may bring with it high seas and storm surges, especially in western areas.
According to the Met Office, “Lorenzo is expected to move to the UK by Thursday - bringing a couple of days with potentially worse conditions than this weekend."
“There are scenarios from gales to storm-force 70mph-plus gusts, but there’s uncertainty. Big waves and heavy rain are likely, with the west most likely to be affected"
There are no official Met Office weather warnings in place yet - but expect a blustery and wet end to the first week of October.

Tuesday - Brightening up during the morning, the odd shower may reach the north coast. Maximum temperature 13°C.
Wednesday - A fine dry day with long spells of sunshine. Maximum temperature 14°C.
Thursday - Cold frosty start, dry and bright then becoming increasingly wet and windy. Risk of coastal gales in places. Maximum temperature 12°C.
Friday & Saturday - Starting breezy and damp then brightening up. Heavy rain arriving on Saturday.
