Snow set to fall to lower levels tonight as Met Office issue yellow warning ☃️❄️

De-icer at the ready, a yellow weather warning for snow and ice has been issued by the Met Office, with forecasters warning travel disruption is likely.

According to The Met Office; "A band of rain, sleet and snow will move south across Northern Ireland on Sunday evening. Localised accumulations of 1-3 cm are possible to lower levels but higher accumulations are likely over higher ground. Above 250 metres, accumulations of 5-10 cm are possible. Skies are expected to clear from the north overnight and widespread ice is likely to develop and persist through to Monday morning."

The warning comes into effect from 3pm Sunday lasting through until 10am Monday.

Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.

Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths

This Evening and Tonight:

Wintry showers becoming fewer and lighter overnight with clear periods developing. It will be a cold night with a touch of frost and risk of icy patches. Fresh northerly winds. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Monday:

A much brighter day with sunny spells. Eastern areas will be mostly dry but scattered showers will continue in the west, turning heavier, wintry during afternoon with strong northerly winds. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Quite a cold, showery few days. The showers most frequent in western areas where it will be quite windy. The showers wintry on high ground.
