Met Office issues yellow ice warning as wintry showers and sub-zero temperatures forecast

Time to dig out the 'big coat'. After an unseasonably warm start to autumn, forecasters are warning about a potential “shock to the system”this weekend.
Temperatures are expected to dip with a blast of arctic air set to bring us our first taste of winter.
According to the Met Office; "A cold northerly wind will bring a mix of clear spells and showers through Friday and Saturday. As temperatures fall overnight, icy patches are possible, particularly over higher ground and towards southern counties - the ice risk may be increased by showers washing off grit or salt. There is also the chance of seeing hail and sleet in some of the showers, while a few hills may see a slight cover of snow."
It's unlikely any snow showers will settle at lower levels.
The warning which covers all counties comes into affect from 1am Saturday morning lasting through to 10am.
With night time temperatures expected to fall below zero, drivers will have to brace themselves for frost in the mornings - worth stocking up on de-icer.
We have had it so good recently, it had to turn cold at some point.
NORTHERN IRELAND FOUR DAY FORECAST
Friday - Turing colder with a brisk northerly wind. Partly cloudy with some sunny spells and showers. Maximum temperature 7-8°C.
Saturday - Cloudy with sleet/rain showers. Turning increasingly wintry over the hills with snow settling on hill tops. Sharp frost overnight. Maximum temperature 7°C.
Sunday - Sunny. Staying cold. Maximum temperature 8°C.
Monday - Bitter wintry feel with plenty of sunshine. Maximum temperature 7-8°C.
