50-70mph winds expected as Met Office issues yellow weather warning

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning as westerly or northwesterly winds will increase across Northern Ireland, during Thursday afternoon and evening.
Inland gusts of 40-50 mph are possible, with perhaps 60-70 mph along exposed coasts, especially through the North Channel and Irish Sea, causing some travel disruption.
Strong gusts could bring heavy showers at times, the yellow weather warning is in place from 3pm Thursday (5th Dec) to 6am on Friday (6th Dec).
What should I expect?
⚠️ It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves
⚠️ Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
⚠️ Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer
⚠️ Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
⚠️ Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely

Today: Dry this morning with any mist and fog patches clearing. This afternoon will be cloudy with rain, occasionally heavy, spreading across all areas. Windy with afternoon with fresh to strong southerly winds, gales along the east coast later. Maximum temperature 10 °C.
Tonight: Cloud and rain soon clearing away from the west this evening. Then the rest of the night will be mainly dry with just the odd shower. Winds easing down. Minimum temperature 7 °C.
Thursday: After a dry start outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, will spread from the west across all parts. Breezy. Mild. Maximum temperature 12 °C.
Outlook for Friday to Sunday: A bright and colder few days with scattered showers, these wintry over hills. Chance of overnight frost and ice.
