Tropical Ravine at Botanic Gardens
If like many of us, you won't be getting that holiday fix this year then get a taste of the tropics from home at the Tropical Ravine at Botanic Gardens.
Housed in a stunning restored Victorian building, the unique two-story maze of tropical flowers, plants and trees is a must see for any nature lover.
The only one of its kind in Europe, take a trip and discover Botanic Gardens Lily Pond, waterfall, and number of rare species on Mondays 1pm-4pm and Tuesday – Sunday 10am-4pm.
The Dome at Victoria Square
If you do fancy spending those Christmas vouchers take a break from shopping and enjoy a 360-degree view of the city at the Dome in Victoria square.
Rising high above the city's skyline, it's a perfect spot for those insta shots, with views of Belfast City Hall, Cave hill and the famous Harland & Wolff Cranes.

Belfast castle Estate and Cave Hill
If you fancy another view of the city but with a touch of nature, then take a trip down the road to Cave hill in north Belfast.
Home to a heap of natural, archegonial and historical features including Belfast Castle and a variety of wildlife species, the estate offers a number of fun (and most importantly free!) family activities such as their adventurous playground, eco trails and orienteering routes.
Ulster museum
Another spot perfect for a family day out is our next free find, Ulster Museum.
Meet an Egyptian mummy and come face to face with Dinosaurs in the museums rich collection of art, history, and science, from both past and present.
Golden thread gallery
The Golden thread Gallery is next on our list, the perfect spot for impressing your artsy first date.
Brimming with exhibitions and participatory events across 18 project spaces, the exhibition celebrates northern Irish and international artists, perfect if you want to expand your mind and delve into the world of contemporary visual art.
Peace Wall
If you want to take a moment to learn and reflect on the more sombre history of Belfast, then take a trip to the city's Peace walls.
Just a 20 min walk from the city centre the 18-foot wall is now home to a series of reflective street art, exploring a touch of modern history.
North Down Museum
Away from the busy city, just a short drive away you'll find our next free attraction, North Down museum.
Rich with cultural history leading back to 500 BC, the museum is home to a number of arts and heritage activities, perfect for all ages.
Come and discover the lives of Monks and Vikings at Northern Irelands most visited small museum.
Murlough National Nature Reserve
It's not quite in Belfast, but if getting those daily steps is one of your new year's resolutions, why not take a trip to Murlough National Nature Reserve in County Down?
A wildlife- watchers' dream, keep out for butterflies, birds, and seals as you walk across the coastline, overlooked by the iconic Mourne Mountains, the perfect place to shed those Christmas dinner pounds and breathe in that fresh sea air.
