Woman seriously injured in Newry stabbing

A woman has been seriously injured after being stabbed 'a number of times' in Newry.

It happened at a house in the Liska Manor area yesterday evening.

A 38 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

In a statement the PSNI said, “Officers received a report at around 5.30pm on Saturday evening that a woman had been stabbed a number of times at a house in the area.”

“Police and paramedics attended the scene and the woman was removed to hospital for treatment to her injuries which have been described as serious.”

“A search was conducted in the area of Liska Manor and a male suspect aged 38, was arrested a short time later on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.”

“He is currently in custody assisting officers with their enquiries.”
