'Toss Your Teddy' for Cash for Kids this weekend

The Stena Line Belfast Giants annual Teddy Bear toss returns on Saturday 10th December supporting Cash For Kids Mission Christmas

Published 2nd Dec 2016

The Stena Line Belfast Giants annual Teddy Bear toss returns on Saturday 10th December as the Giants take on the Sheffield Steelers at The SSE Arena, Belfast. For the Teddy Bear Toss, we need as many fans as possible to throw stuffed toys onto the ice following the Giants first goal of the game!

Then soon after, the Giants players will deliver the toys to children at various hospitals throughout Belfast as well as to the Cash for Kids/Cool FM Mission Christmas appeal.

The Cash for Kids Mission Christmas appeal supports children aged 0-18 who would receive nothing on Christmas Day without their help. Last year 8,864 children were supported and so far over 9,500 have been applied for this year.

You can support this appeal by donating either a teddy or new unwrapped gifts for children aged 0-18 at the Giants game on Saturday 10th December. Cash for Kids will have staff in the Arena’s foyer on the night to collect these – with the teddies being thrown onto the ice when the Giants score their first goal! The Guide To The Giants Teddy Bear Toss:--------------------------------------------

– It is a Teddy Bear Toss by name, but we will accept any soft toy (not just bears!). It would be ideal they were suitable for children from birth upwards (please check the label). This means that they can go to the littlest baby, all the way through to the bigger boys and girls!

– For sanitary purposes, please ensure you put the soft toy into a clear plastic bag (not a bag you picked up at the local shop that has branding all over it). Ideally you find a clear, unbranded plastic bag to put your toy inside.

– Please ensure the soft toy is brand new, not an old stuffed toy you want to get rid of. We cannot use anything that isn’t brand new and childrens’ hospitals need them to be clean (hence the plastic bags).

Remember – when the Giants score their first goal on Saturday 10th December at The SSE Arena, you throw your soft toy onto the ice, not before that!

Help us make Christmas 2016 one to remember for families around Northern Ireland!
